I chose this hotel for two reasons - location and atmosphere - and I was rewarded with an exceptional, authentic experience in that regard. Don't come here expecting a five-star, luxury, splash-out. You have to keep in mind that this place is 600 years old. Rooms are small. I found the service to be superb. From check in to the quality of service I received in booking excursions to dining recommendations. All were excellent. Of course, the location is the real feature. You're in the very center of the pedestrianized old town. Between walking and using public transportation, you'll be able to reach anywhere you want to go. The on-site restaurant is quite good, and is popular with locals.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Elefant during a Christmas Market trip. Location was impeccable. Breakfast was great. Bed was comfortable. Our room ran a little warm, so we left the window open a bit. Only feedback I would give is that front reception staff could be a little more welcoming.
